So clearly, the Web site
has not been my priority of late. And sadly, it
is not likely to become a priority in the near
future, either. Whatever the reason, I just have
not been typing. And that in spite of my having
got this new Palm, and the cool new ultra-thin
keyboard for it. But so far the keyboard is just
giving me a world of headaches, so that is not
encouraging good typing practices, either. If I
get the keyboard situation squared away and we
get some really rainy weather which will put me
on the bus with nothing to do except type, that
paucity of scottmcj?s might change, but I am not
terribly hopeful. Sadly, I cannot even say that
I have been using my free time particularly
well. I have been going to work and I have been
doing a lot of sales stuff putting together
numbers for projects we should never be engaged
in and which surprise no one when they fail to
land. My one real project at work got a fresh
injection of life, which makes me look a little
less pathetic on the utilization spreadsheet.
Everyone cool continues to quit. href="http://endquote.com/"
target=_blank>Josh is moving on, and S~ and
D~ (the latter no huge loss, but oh!, the
sadness of no more S~). Nothing terribly
exciting at home, either. Dog is fine, family is
fine. I worked through my Christmas shopping,
which has been exhausting and surprisingly
expensive this year, due in part to the
wonderfulness of my family and their actual
making of lists this year that encouraged me to
go out and overspend in the dream of a great
gift-giving Christmas. But really, what have I
been doing? I had all these other home-front
type projects lined up when I came back from
London. Even to the point where I had been
scheduling my day hour-by-hour so that I would
have time to do them. But much like entertaining
and dating widely, follow-through on my good
intentions fell away after the working on them
the first couple of months, when I realized how
much work it would be. It bugs me, but I just do
not have the will to make the change right now.
I am generally just busy enough to make a
mockery of any firm plans, yet not busy enough
to let me off the guilt hook. I am thinking that
after the first of the year, once I am past
Christmas and have all this shopping and
wrapping and gift-related anxiety taken care of,
then I will have the free time and mental
bandwidth to pick up my projects again. But
really, it is likely to be a while before the
Web site gets any real attention. Writing here
is a distant third in line, project-wise.
Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great
Christmas season, and I hope that you've got
your big plans for next year all lined up.

Comments?

Don't you feel some responsibility to your
readers? I don't think it's very nice to hook
your audience and then bow out because you can't
be bothered to keep up the site. I have a need
to know god damn it.
