Why don't pretty girls ice skate? I've been ice skating at least once a week since July of last year, and I can say with a fair bit of confidence that the world is full of pretty girls, and that not nearly a proportional sample of them make it onto the ice.

I haven't paid much attention to the guys, but it could be a similar scenario. Who knows. Lord knows I'm there, dragging down the average, so somewhere out there is probably a girl right now writing, "why the heck don't any cute boys ice skate?"

And sure, when you get into the public skates where random people are skating at random times, then yeah, there are tons of pretty girls. That is apparently when you do get the representative population. But the people being real skaters, taking lessons, and so on, are not meeting that same mark. I have no idea why that is. The feeling of grace is amazing. But maybe the pretty girls get that elsewhere. Or maybe they can get similar wonderful feelings without having to go through the ego-bruising falls of getting good. Weird.

Are ice skating girls better in bed? I'm not saying, I'm just throwing it out there. They do these crazy hip twists like you have never seen before. Strong leg and thigh muscles used to doing moves not normally found in nature. And ...I'm dropping it... now.

Second random thought: when you're walking across a courtyard, and there's only one other person walking at the same time, you start planning your avoid move something like a block in advance. For a hundred yards, you're thinking about which side you're going to pass them on, whether you'll nod in passing, make eye contact, how wide to go around them, and so on.

By the time you two actually pass, it's a whole brilliant strategy.
